Keeping your kids occupied during the summer months is always a challenge. However, there is something that is guaranteed to stop your kids getting bored – a water slide inflatable!

A water slide inflatable is the perfect toy for summer. These are 6 feet or more tall slides that you inflate with air and place at the side of your swimming pool. Kids and adults slide down them into the pool with a splash.

All kids are like a bundle of energy looking to explode into action. It seems that kids first order of business ever day is to bounce, jump, slide, and generally be energetic – but only doing fun activities. So it is no wonder they get all hot and sweaty… and a little stinky too.

But with a water slide inflatable, they are in and out of the pool all day and do not get hot and sweaty. So, they get all the benefits of exercise, but without that sweaty stink.

In addition, any kid having a birthday party in summer who has a water slide inflatable, instantly becomes the kid to know, and very popular.

So when you are planning your child’s next birthday party (or any party), you should consider making it a poolside event and include a water slide inflatable in your requirements. You can be sure that the party guests will be magnetically drawn to the water slide. If you organize the party right, the guests will be praising and copying you when they plan an event.

Your choice as to what water slide inflatable to get is vast. They range from the simple pool water slide to large complicated structures, and every kind of variation imaginable in between.

All water slide inflatables are supplied with an air pump, which remains connected to the slide and pumping all the while the water slide is in use. This is to ensure that the water slide remains firm at all times, which is needed when you have a bunch of kids climbing all over the structure.

You connect a garden hose to the water slide, and the water flows out of numerous holes along the length of the slide. This creates the effect of water gushing down the chute just like in a water park.

Because the water slides are inflatable, they are easily dismantled at the end of play and packed away to a surprisingly small package.

You certainly will find a water slide inflatable that is just right for your situation due to the variety of sizes and shapes available. They range from the simple water slide, right up to full-blown water park type structures. The only limitation is the size of your backyard.

Swimming Pool Coating starts with the Pool Paint Sealant that will keep the pool surface intact. There are several steps in determining when you need to sand your swimming pool as well as what pool sealant to use.

The right way to begin a pool resurfacing project is to determine what kind of sealant you are currently using in your pool. Typically, there are 2 types of coating used for pools: Chlorinated Rubber Paint or Epoxy Paint. Chlorinated Rubber Pool Paint has a life span of two to three years while Epoxy Pool Paint has a life span of five to seven years. If you can’t determine which type of paint your pool currently has on it, take a chip of the paint to a pool paint store to be tested. A good rule of thumb when resurfacing/repainting your pool is to continue to use the same type of epoxy . If you have always used Chlorinated Rubber Pool Paint, it is best to stick with it.

The next process would be to determine how many coats of coating that are ALREADY on your pool walls. You don’t want to paint over too many coats of paint. One or two coats are fine, but if you are over that amount, you’ll need to have the pool sanded . If you are to sand extra layers of pool epoxy before to applying new either Chlorinated Rubber Pool coating or Epoxy Pool coating , be sure to polish the entire area before sealing .

The final step before you apply fresh pool paint when resealing your swimming pool is to plug any cracks within the swimming pool . You’ll need to sand cracks and patch holes to ensure a longer lasting pool paint life.

Once you’ve prepared your pool to be resurfaced and repainted, you can apply your pool paint. Chlorinated Rubber paints can be painted directly to the surface of your pool. All Chlorinated Rubber pool paints are self-priming. Epoxy based pool paints usually need a coat of primer first, most often on bare concrete.

When applying the pool paint to the surface of your swimming pool, you’ll want to roll the chlorinated rubber pool paint or epoxy based pool paint on evenly and at a good pace. Whichever type of pool paint you use, be sure to following the pool paint manufacturer’s directions for proper curing and coating time. For information on this and other pool needs, visit www.poolpaintstore.com

Swimming Pool Maintenance starts with the Pool Paint Sealant that will keep the pool surface intact. There are several steps in determining when you need to resurface your pool as well as what pool paint to use.

The wise way to start a pool maintenance project is to determine what kind of sealant you are currently using in your pool. Typically, there are 2 types of paint used for pools: Chlorinated Rubber Paint or Epoxy Paint. Chlorinated Rubber Pool Paint has a life span of two to three years while Epoxy Pool Paint has a life span of five to seven years. If you can’t determine which type of paint your pool currently has on it, take a chip of the paint to a pool paint expert to be tested. A good rule of thumb when resurfacing/repainting your swimming pool is to continue to use the same type of coating . If you have always used Chlorinated Rubber Pool Paint, it is best to stick with it.

The next process would be to determine how many coats of sealant that are ALREADY on your pool walls. You don’t want to coat over too many coats of paint. One or two coats are fine, but if you are over that amount, you’ll need to have the pool buffed . If you are to remove extra layers of swimming pool paint prior to applying fresh either Chlorinated Rubber Pool coating or Epoxy Pool coating , be sure to rinse the entire area before applying .

The last step before you apply fresh pool coating when repainting your swimming pool is to repair any cracks within the pool . You’ll need to sand cracks and patch holes to ensure a longer lasting pool paint life.

Once you’ve prepared your swimming pool to be resurfaced and repainted, you can apply your pool paint.

You can buy an above-ground pool very cheaply and they come in kit form that you can assemble yourself to really save some money on the budget. If you live on a slope and have the space you may well be able to build an above ground pool and merge it into some decking so it looks like it’s an in-ground pool. As soon as you go to in-ground options the prices get a lot higher. In-ground swimming pools require a lot of engineering work and more expensive materials and the larger the pool gets the greater the disparity in pricing. Don’t forget to factor in the cost of decking when budgeting for your new pool!

SIZE AND SHAPE: What is your pool going to be used for? If you are just planning on swimming laps you’ll probably want a lap pool (anything over 10m in length is recommended). If you have kids that will want to splash around you will need to go for something a bit wider – a keyhole shape or an elliptical pool. Most above ground pools come in set designs but in-ground concrete pools can be moulded to any shape you like.

LOCATION: If your pool is going to be outside you’ll want to position it where it gets plenty of sunlight to help warm it during the day. Adding a shade-sail is a nice touch and will provide a place to cool off in the midday sun. You will also want to place the pool somewhere that has good visibility from the rest of the house – if there is an accident you will need to be able to respond very quickly and you should never leave children un-supervised in a swimming pool.

DEPTH: If you have very small children you might want to go for a design that ramps down from a zero depth to allow them to splash around in safety at one end of the pool. If you are a keen diver and want to add a diving board to your swimming pool you should aim to have a depth of at least 3 meters. The deepest part of the pool should be in the middle of the pool if it is to be used for diving as this is where you’ll land when coming off the diving board! If you are going to teach swimming or have private swimming lessons you will probably want to be able to stand up comfortably anywhere in the pool.

PRIVACY: If your property is over-looked by your neighbours you will want to consider screening trees or fencing options. Take a walk around your proposed site and try to imagine what will be visible and where you will need screening.

ACCESS: How are you going to access your new pool? You may need to add pathways, decking, doorways etc. Be sure to include all of these in your budgeting.

SAFETY: Most cities now have stringent laws requiring high fencing and self-locking gates. Many options are available from glass pool fencing to metal fencing. Requirements vary so be sure to check with your local council. Make sure there are no climbable objects overhanging your pool fence. Backyard drownings account for an horrific number of child deaths each year so it’s incredibly important you adhere to the guidelines.

HEATING: You can heat your pool using solar heating, gas heating or electric heating. The ideal temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. A great cost-saver is a solar/thermal blanket which will help keep your pool warm over night. The choice of heating system will vary depending on budget and where you live. Solar is a great choice as it has no on-going costs.

SALT/CHLORINE: Salt water pools are by far the best option as they contain no chemicals (other than salt!), they don’t sting your eyes and they’re very safe for small children. Chlorine pools cost a bit less to setup and maintain but can irritate the skin and is dangerous to inhale.

STORAGE: You’ll want to allocate an area for storage of towels, toys, pool tools (cleaning equipment, nets for leaves etc) and a blanket for your pool. Be sure to factor this in to the design of the area around your pool (and make sure it doesn’t constitute a climbable access point!).

Swimming pool heaters are a must to help in the control of the temperature of your pool’s water. There are a number of heater types, but the two most common are the standard and the solar swimming pool heaters. Should you decide on getting a solar heater, just be sure that you have a pool that is properly located, mean which it receives ample amount of sunlight, otherwise it will just be a waste of financial resources.

You can try having the standard heater, which is powered by gas. This is one of the most popular means of powering your heater. Or perhaps you can use oil if in case you are located in areas where gas is not available. Of course, while this is the common means of heating your swimming pool, they are not necessarily the cleanest, in terms of caring for our environment. Definitely the most environment friendly are the solar swimming pool heaters, as they use the power of the sun to in order run and warm up the water.

One of the most efficient means of heating up your pool water is the electric type of heater. However, it should be noted that electric pool heaters are the most expensive to use. Unlike the solar heaters however, which might be unreliable during rainy or long cloudy days, electric heaters work for your pool effectively all year round.

Likewise, solar pool heaters can also be very expensive initially. You still need to purchase and install a pump that would bring water from the pool to the panels for it to be heated. Needless to say, this particular pump can be expensive too. However, you might just want to consider solar heaters for your pool as an investment as in the long run, you will save significant money because of zero expenses on power to run such heaters.

Majority of people who live in warmer climates around the United States have installed residential swimming pools. It does not mean that for buying a quality swimming pool, a person has to live in a warm climate. Getting a swimming pool is the nicest way to enjoy the most refreshing and energetic bath. However, it is always advised to safeguard the pool so that you can get the best results every time. There are a number of ways through which you can protect the pool for year round use. If you’re thinking about installing a pool, you need to consider whether you want to install a permanent home improvement fixture or purchase an above ground pool.

Want to install a good swimming pool at your home? People who wish to install residential swimming pools need to decide how much money they want to spend on the project. Justifying a realistic budget will help a person to determine the type of materials to be used in the construction of the pool. In addition, you will be able to choose the most desired size, shape and design extras. It’s important to take some time to think through this project, as it will be a permanent addition to your home.

Advantages of Installing Fiberglass Residential Swimming Pools

Many people choose to install fiberglass residential swimming pools at their backyards. These pools are easy to install and often last longer than their concrete alternatives. The best thing about these pools is that you can choose the most economical pool with matching size and shape so as to fit the look and feel of your home. It’s a good idea to consult with the pool dealer or manufacturer to make sure your home meets all the requirements for installing your new pool.

Spring is in the air, and now would be a great time to think about ways to contribute to the environment. One way to do so, if you have an outdoor swimming pool, is to consider a solar pool heating system. Not only will it save you money, it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The system is fairly simple to create. The pool provides the thermal storage, so there is no need to purchase anything for this particular aspect. And, the pump that is currently used to filter the water in the pool will also circulate the water through the solar collectors.

Pool Cover

A pool cover will drastically save on heating costs and cost, on average, around $120. Not only that, but this will also reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that are harmful to our environment. David Boehmer states, “…all other pool heating methods…should only be used in conjunction with a pool cover. Not to do so would be like running your house air conditioner during August with the doors and windows open. The system will still work, but the operating cost will be as much as three times higher.” Visit the United States Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy website to peruse estimates of how much it costs to heat a pool with and without a pool cover.

One of the reasons swimming pool covers are so effective is due to the loss of water incurred through evaporation. A pool cover alone can provide up to 50%-70% savings. There are various types of pool covers that you can consider in your purchasing decision. Bubble (or solar) covers are probably the least costly. Vinyl covers, however, are made of a thicker material and tend to have a longer life expectancy than bubble covers.

As stated, pool covers provide savings in your energy costs. However, they also have the following benefits:

* They conserve water by reducing the amount of make-up water needed by 30%-50%

* They reduce the pool’s chemical consumption by 35%-60%

* They reduce cleaning time by keeping dirt and other debris out of the pool

Solar Swimming Pool Heaters

A solar pool heater can significantly reduce the costs you acquire through heating your pool. Not only are they similar in price with other heating options, but they also have extremely low annual operating costs. When compared in many climates, they actually come out on top as being the most cost effective. These types of swimming pool heaters generally last longer than their gas and heat pump counterparts. With proper maintenance, they can last anywhere from ten to twenty years. Here is what is usually included in solar swimming pool heaters:

* A solar collector – the device through which pool water is circulated to be heated by the sun

* A filter – removes debris before water is pumped through the collector

* A pump – circulates water through the filter and collector and back to the pool

* A flow control valve – automatic or manual device that diverts pool water through the solar collector

The material that solar pool collectors are made of varies, and the specific type you will need is dependent on what climate you live in.

If you are installing a new in-ground swimming pool or above ground pool on your property, you should look into other insurance options besides the typical coverage given on your homeowners insurance. In the event of an accident in or around your swimming pool, many times homeowners insurance is not alone sufficient to protect you and your assets in the event of a lawsuit. If you are already a pool owner or are considering a new swimming pool, you should look at more comprehensive insurance options.

If you are not properly insured and someone gets hurt around your swimming pool, it can lead to trouble. Even if your pool will only be used by family and friends, anyone – and sometimes especially family and friends – may turn on you and consider a law suit as a means to recover damages from a loss. Getting sued by people close to you is usually not out of spite or hatred but many times out of necessity. Medical expenses are high and can mount up to a point that there is no way out of the insurmountable debt. Many times, if a serious injury has occurred, people can’t afford not to sue. The bad news for pool owners is if the accident happens around your swimming pool, you are ultimately at fault regardless of the atmosphere the accident took place.

If someone does get hurt, don’t be alarmed if you get sued. It happens and accidents happen when you least expect it. Even if you monitor your swimming pool 24/7, accidents happen in the blink of an eye. Pools are hazardous areas and accidents usually occur by diving and running around the slippery surface surrounding the pool. But, don’t let this turn you off from pool ownership. Accidents can happen anywhere – in your yard, in your home, on your sidewalk – anywhere. Swimming pools have statistically higher accident rates so it is a good idea to opt for extra insurance and keep you completely covered.

Liability insurance is the best insurance to get for swimming pool owners. Try to get the highest coverage possible in your price limit such as 300k – 600k. An umbrella plan is also a great option because it is a separate liability policy in addition to homeowner coverage. The umbrella plan kicks in extra coverage when your homeowner’s insurance plan drops off ensuring complete coverage in any situation.

Cost wise, the extra insurance coverage is not bad. The umbrella coverage or stand alone liability plans are usually an extra 30 to 40 dollars extra a month. To offset the costs even further, consider buying all of your plans from the same insurance provider. Insurance companies usually offer bulk discounts if you purchase all insurance from them (i.e. life, auto, home, liability). As pool owners, extra insurance is not a necessity but it is highly recommended. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Since when swimming pools started being used is subject to doubt. Some think it is the Greeks who started using swimming pools and spas, while some think that the concept of swimming pools were first conceived by aboriginals far before the Greeks. Today, it doesn’t matter when swimming pools started becoming popular, what matters are that swimming pools have now become an indispensable part of our lives.

Swimming pools have modified over the years. Today, there are simple swimming pools, above the ground swimming pools, designer in ground swimming pools, spas, and more to come. Interestingly, all are popular across the world for their own reasons. The obvious question that arises is, how beneficial is swimming pools in human lives? The one and only answer to this question is, plenty. The most obvious benefits of swimming pools and spas are relaxation. Nothing can be more fun, relaxing, and easy mode of exercising as a swimming pool or spa.

The variations in swimming pools have added to its popularity. Earlier people had to manage a time to go to a community swimming pool, however today there are private swimming pools that come in the form of in-ground swimming pools, above ground swimming pools, spas with sizes and shapes to accommodate a single person, as well as a family.

Extensive studies are still being carried out to evaluate greater health benefits of swimming pools and spas. Relaxation, physical exercise, etc are something which was first to be proved. Further, when hydrotherapy came into light, swimming pools became the sole contender for the benefits. The health benefits of swimming pools cannot be ignored at all.

Today, doctors are advising people with various other medical conditions can like arthritis, asthma, obesity, etc to spend some time in swimming pools and spas to get rid of their conditions without having to rely on medicines. Today, experts are evaluating the endless benefits of swimming pools, which truly are endless in fact, it is no longer a doubt that swimming pools are here to stay.

If you are an inground swimming pool owner, chances are you are already involved in the maintenance and care of your pool. Or you may have a contract with a company that comes weekly to clean the pool, adjust the chemicals and take care of repairs as they crop up. Perhaps you handle the cleaning and chemicals yourself and just call in a professional swimming pool repair company when you know that you have a major problem. Maybe you have just purchased an older home that has the swimming pool you’ve always wanted but it is old and looks unappealing. Weather it is your own aging swimming pool, or one in a home you’ve just purchased, you want to remodel and upgrade it to add to the asthetics and ambiance of your backyard, conserve energy, and increase your enjoyment.

If your swimming pool is between 15-20 years old, now is the time to undertake a total remodel and upgrade of your inground pool, equipment, coping, tile, lighting and decking. When starting such a project, begin at the foundation. In this case we’re talking about all of your pool equipment, wiring and pipes. Any possible swimming pool leaks must be repaired and the source eliminated before work is undertaken. This includes a total evaluation of your equipment. If minor pool repairs have been made over the years, now is the time to go ahead and purchase new pool equipment if necessary or do a first class repair job on what you already have such as pool skimmers and your swimming pool motor. If you have a heated pool or lights in the pool, now is the time to bring your swimming pool’s electrial wiring up to code.

Next comes the actual cosmetic repair of your swimming pool. If you have a fiberglass pool, damage such as chips, cracks and discolorations are usually limited to the top layer which is a kind of gel coat. That kind of damage can be repaired by a company that basically resurfaces your pool with one of several processes that would be similar to painting the surface layer of the fiberglass. The more common gunite or concrete swimming pool in need of repair usually presents with chipped plaster, cracks, discoloration, or a wearing down of the plaster through erosion. The proper swimming pool repair service can resurface your pool so that it looks brand new. Enjoy!

Darin W asked:

Is it possible to use an air conditioner to heat a pool? It seems like I might be able to use a liquid heat exchanger to cool the hot part of the air conditioning cycle using swimming pool water. Can someone give me an overview of how to build a system like the following myself (or at low cost by requesting the right work to be done by a professional)?

http://www.toad.net/~jsmeenen/pool/

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3976123.html

Thanks in advance! This could be very cool! But I’m also wondering why it seems there are not a lot of people aready doing this — leads me to believe that it might not be worthwhile. Perhaps the air conditioner does not put off enough heat to be useful?

Note: I have also been looking at heat pump systems, which I might end up with, but it would sure be nice if it were possible to modify the existing system instead at a reasonable cost.
To the poster who asks if there is a correlation between air conditioner use and need for pool heat, in my case, yes there is for several months of the year. Even in the hottest months, this could potentially be used to focus all the heat towards the spa, or for household hot water.

Another poster asks if it’s feasible, and there seem to be patents and some devices that do this for either pools or household hot water. Also, stand alone heat pumps are sold for this purpose and they are very similar to what I am proposing here. Air conditioners extract heat from indoors and dissipate it to the air — wasting it. Heat pumps are sold to extract heat from the air to heat the pool — wasting the cold that they generate by dissipating it into the air. Is it possible to have the best of all worlds — nothing wasted + use the existing AC equip through modification?
