depending on the size of your pool in gallons and what part of the country you in you can expect a drastic increase in your power bill. i am the super for a small private resort in vegas with gas fired pool heaters and when certain guests request the pool heated there is a 2000 dollar deposit on a 70,oo0 gallon pool to be heated to about 85 in the winter , spring and fall .there are fomulas available at your pool supply store to determine your gallons of water in your pool. i owned an all electric home in vegas and wish i had some gas due to its quick response to wanting something heated,
1. you have the room in your electrical panel to supply the heater?
2. it will take up some amps big time? and require to pull wire to it in a PVC pipe and feed it to a junction box.
3.Electrician’s…………..I charge 50 hr. (still need it)
4. yes to all the above…then you will pay about 700.00 to install it without the coast of the heater.
5. your breaker box to small, than it goes up another 200.00
6. pool heaters run all the time and that will pull around 10-20amps more and raise your bill.
Electric pool heat is NOT the way to go. Any other type of heater will cost you half to 3/4 of what an electric does. How much a typical 82 degree pool that’s covered when not in use will cost is variable with different utility companies in different areas. I can say that the heater you’ll need will be a 50 Kw, if this is a 18X36. You’ll need to work out your cost based on that scant info and having a blanket on the pool to minimize heat loss. Run times for it, you can count to see it going about 2 hours on average, per day when it’s up to temp. How long it takes to get there will depend on heat loss to the air again and your starting temperature. It may kick in both 25Kw banks or it may only kick in one. Usually only one if the pool doesn’t experience much heat loss.
